Totally Biased: Hari Kondabolu Reports on Sikh Captain America

He's right: if we can't accept a half black president we're not ready for a non-white Captain America.  But the worst of it was the guy who kept calling the Sikh Captain Amercia an Arab Captain America.

Spitting over the Spoils

P.Badger and I are at the point of dividing up the house.  Everything is mostly smooth sailing.  We have hit the hardest parts: videos.  And here is where the contention started.  The fighting.  Oh. My. God. The fighting.  We may very well have to get mediators just to go through the damn videos.  The issue?  I insist he takes the movie Rent.  He insists I take John Carter of Mars (with Tracy Lordes).  This is proof that we both intend to do the other in.

Freaky 3am Thing

It's all fun and games until - !

All I can say is I was laughing along with Conan as the clueless gamer.  Laughing, laughing, laughing.  Then it happened.  Um . . . not for the squeamish at the end.

Thing is is I don't know if this is a win or a fail.  Sam

Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill

One of the movies that I've had on my MUST WATCH! list is The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.  I have wanted to see this movie from the very first moment I watched the trailer for it.  I knew I was going to love watching this movie!

I am 11 minutes and 48 seconds into this movie. I hate it.

Keep in mind I've read up on the parrots.  I've read about the infighting between the residents of Telegraph Hill.  And I've read Mark Bittner's in depth response to the fighting and blame laying and rebuttles and on.  For a while I really ghosted this guy's website just to get an idea of the situation these birds were in.  (Note: half of his website seems to be down right now.  The In Depth details and discussions are not online.)  The few times I've run across his book I've set everything aside to read what I could.  I've even seen other documentaries made by Judy Irving.

So finally getting a chance to see the movie was supposed to be like playing with fine glitter after dealing with grit.  Only. . . it's the other way around.  Seriously just over 10 minutes into this film and it is not cool.

I'm going to ask P.B. to take a look at it.  Maybe I'm missing something here.

For Women Only - NSFW!!!!

I think the funny thing is so many people are looking at this and going: Oh, Bic, how you understand me.  LOL.  NOT!  And how many women did you piss off by creating this marketing campaign?

I think the funnier thing is that it's free advertising for Bic, and has done it's job.

Wife Humor: Even with a Map You're . . .

Primordial Badger was in a mood to blame this morning.  My big infraction?  I brought the trash cans in.  In order for him to leave the apartment he had to pass right by them.  But according to PB he got outside and they weren't there!  He looked down the street, but no.  They hadn't rolled away!  He looked to the trees to see if it was windy - maybe windy enough to roll them into the park.  Nope.  No wind!
After his complaint I said, "Life works better if you leave your head sometimes and look around.  You won't be so lost."
Conversation continues in another direction.  A minute or so later PB said, "I'm not lost."
I said, "Oh?  You have a map?"
     "Yes."
     "A treasure map?"
"Yes!  I have a treasure map!"  He's obviously thrilled with this idea.  He turns his back on me and is hurrying into the office to make a post on this.
That's when it slipped out.  My little wife-humor* comment:  "Even with the big "You are here 'X'" you'd still be lost."
PB whipped around.  "What?  What did you say?"
I said, "You know there's always something to look at."  (Or something like that.)  I don't think he believed me.  But he was still overjoyed with his treasure map win.  I didn't have the heart to tell him this conversation was going in a post.

(*Wife humor = ninja snark.  We wives are so very good at it.)

Goodwill Fail

You know a product is bad when 3 different people see you carrying it - and stop you to tell you it's not worth the cost.  Not even when it's at Goodwill at a third of the price on the store shelves.  Not even when Goodwill has their sticker price at half off.  "Not even for the batteries."  One woman said.

Because it seemed like the only thing to do, I lied to each woman and told them it was for an art project.  That is actually my answer to everything lately: 'It's for an art project.'  People get this look on their face - as if the ideas in their brain as to what the item is going to be used for are too alien now.  And they try to go from there, but just can't.  'It's for an art project.' I say.  They say, "Oh!  Of course!"  Their faces say, 'One of those people' and simultaneously, 'What the hell would you use that in a project for?', and 'Oh, how cool!'.

The item wasn't for an art project.  I was going to use the Ziploc Handi Vac to keep my food fresh.  Got home, tried it out.  It did what it advertised: suck air out of the bag.  End of story.  Only, now, it's for an art project.
